School Receptionist/Admin Assistant

Permanent Contract: Part time, 20hrs per week, 39 weeks per year

Hours: Mon – Fri from 8.30am – 12:30pm term time only

Salary: Scale 4, SCP 7 -10 (full time equivalent of £27,060 to £28,419 to be paid pro rata)

Hawley Primary is looking for someone to join our warm and friendly school office, with key responsibility for the School Reception as well as performing essential daily administrative tasks.

This role is special because you will be the face of the school when people walk in, as well as our voice when answering calls and enquiries. We are therefore looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who really takes joy from being able to help others out.

The key areas of admin you will be responsible for are:

– Monitoring and checking daily attendance

– Inputting school meal selections

– Supporting nursery application and enrolment process 

– Assisting with admissions enquiries

The office team will be able to offer support and guidance on these tasks and training is available. In addition, there will be other general admin tasks such as correspondence, filing, stock checking, receiving and distributing post and deliveries.  

We are looking for someone:

– With a professional, approachable and caring manner, both in person and on the phone

– Who can prioritise tasks and multitask the demands of a fast paced office

– Who is punctual, organised and able to and work efficiently

– Has demonstrable ICT competency and the ability to learn new programmes

– Will ensure confidentiality and safeguarding are at the core of what you do

– Who is able to work within a team, as well as working individually using your own initiative

Familiarity working in a school or being community facing in a customer services or busy office environment will be advantageous, but not essential. Likewise experience using a MIS software to store and manipulate data would be advantageous. This role will require you to use Integris and ParentPay as well as the Microsoft and Google suites. Where relevant, training will be provided.
