Hawley has always had an active and friendly Parents Association (PA). Now we are settled into our new school premises and as we are growing to become a full primary school, we are formalising the arrangement and becoming a registered charity.

What do we do?

We are a social and fund-raising organisation, we have events all through the year to celebrate school life and to bring our friendly school community together.

Events in the Winter Term will be the popular School Disco complete with glo bands and some serious getting on down and the festive Christmas Bazaar where you can buy and make beautiful gifts for family and friends and visit our now famous Santa’s Grotto.

In the Spring Term we will have our annual International Evening where parents, grandparents and carers cook their favourite dish and bring it along for all to enjoy, it’s a fun evening filled with food and entertainment from around the world.

The biggest event of the year is the Summer Fete. The food stalls were amazing last year and children were kept busy in the games area and arts and crafts stalls. The silent auction was a huge success and in total the fete raised over £6,000 which was an amazing result.

As well as these big events, we hold regular bake sales throughout the year to celebrate events like Halloween, Valentine’s Day and sometimes just because its Friday. We usually make between £150-£200 per bake sale so please get baking.

Where does money go?

All the money we raise goes right back to help our children.  We help to subsidise class trips that enrich our children’s education and make life long memories. Last year we installed shade sails on the roof terraces so that  the children can make use of our outdoor classrooms in comfort throughout the wonderful summer we enjoyed. We are installing a new sound system in the hall to enhance the many performances the children put on.  We raised over £11,000 last year so we can make a real difference to the school.

Are there any meetings?

We have an AGM in the Winter Term where we decide on the priorities for the year and which projects we will fund raise for. These ideas come from the school and parents.  Please let us know what you would think the school would benefit from.

How do I get involved?

Please contact your class rep, Nicole or Liz if you would like to get involved. We are always looking for new members and new ideas for events. Just give the time you can and get involved.  It’s a lot of fun and our children directly benefit from the money we raise.  We look forward to seeing you soon!
