The provider of lunches at Hawley is Caterlink. Healthy and nutritious meals are prepared and served with ethically sourced meat and fish, and locally and regionally sourced fruit and vegetables. All meals are freshly cooked daily, by our school cook, who is skilled in catering for a range of dietary needs.

Cost of School Meals

All children in Reception to Year 6 can get school meals for free. These are funded for by the government under London Free School Meals.

For children in Nursery the school meals cost £2.87 daily, payable on Parent Pay, UNLESS you have applied and been confirmed by Camden as eligible for benefits based Free School Meals.

Who should apply for Free School Meals

Everyone eligible should apply, regardless of school year. The scheme for Free School Meals covers all school aged children, including those in Nursery. You only need to apply once and any child who has been confirmed as eligible from 1 April 2018 will keep their Free School Meals eligibility until 31 March 2023, even if your circumstances change.

When a child is eligible for Free School Meals, the school receives extra funding which is called Pupil Premium. This funding helps us support the development of those most in need. Therefore, even if your child is in Reception – Year 6 you should still submit an application for Free School Meals if eligible.

In April 2017, Hawley became one of Caterlink’s ‘adopted schools’. This scheme enables the school to work closely with a member of the company’s catering team who makes regular visit to the school. ‘Chef Jamie’ visits every half term. He leads assemblies and workshops, speaks to the children about food, nutrition, and making healthy choices and he also cooks with them.
