Sports Premium
Hawley is an active school that provides an inclusive P.E. curriculum as well as a range of extra-curricular activities to engage and challenge all children. Children look forward to their P.E. lessons and P.E. has a high status within our school community – all led by our amazing Coach, Kadie. We provide positive and exciting experiences that promote a lifetime of participation in physical activity and understand that this participation will promote positive mental wellbeing for our pupils throughout their lives.
We provide a wide range of extra-curricular physical activities including football, yoga, street dance, boxing and kayaking. We make links with other organisations, for example, Pirate Castle, Talacre and Castlehaven community centre to build opportunities for pupils in our local community.
We hold a Sports Day in Regents Park each July, which is a traditional, family event and we take part in events organised by the Camden School Sports Association such as the annual Cross Country on Hampstead Heath. Our overarching aim is to promote the physical and mental wellbeing of all our pupils whilst they are at Hawley and throughout their entire lives.

Pupil Premium
At Hawley, it is our responsibility to use the Pupil Premium Grant to improve educational outcomes for our disadvantaged pupils. We must do our best for those for whom the quality of education matters most.
At Hawley, we believe that strong literacy and numeracy are crucial for preparing our children for life beyond school. Our aim is for all our pupils to make good progress in maths and literacy and we target pupil premium funding to ensure that we meet those aims for all our children.
We understand that early intervention is key and prioritise developing Language and Communication skills in the Early years.
We provide a well-taught, high quality wider curriculum which is engaging and relevant, and ensure that all pupils are effectively supported to learn the key knowledge and develop the key skills that will enable them to successfully access all subjects across the wider curriculum.
Our school allocates spending across the following 3 areas:
- supporting high-quality teaching, for example, through staff professional development
- providing targeted academic support
- tackling non-academic barriers to academic success, such as difficulties in attendance, behaviour and social and emotional wellbeing
Supporting our disadvantaged pupils is a key priority for our Senior Leadership Team and for our governors. Our School Improvement Plan priorities are rooted in supporting the needs of our pupils and in developing the areas of learning in which they require the highest level of support. We are committed to developing strong relationships with families and to providing parents with the support that they need. We are ambitious for our pupils and we strive for success for all. Through rigorous assessment and monitoring, we aim to utilise our pupil premium resources to the utmost effect.

Accesibility
The SEN and Disability Act 2001 extended the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) to cover education. Since September 2002, the Governing Body has had three key duties towards disabled students, under Part 4 of the DDA:
- not to treat disabled students less favorably for a reason related to their disability
- to make reasonable adjustments for disabled students, so that they are not at a substantial disadvantage
- to plan to increase access to education for disabled students
Hawley Primary School is committed to ensuring that all members of the school community are able to use the school and its facilities and that all students will have full access to the curriculum and will participate with equality in the wider life of the school.
Our accessibility plan sets out the proposals of the Governing Body to increase access to education for disabled students in the three areas required by the planning duties in the DDA:
- increasing the extent to which disabled students can participate in the school curriculum
- improving the environment of the school to increase the extent to which disabled students can take advantage of all aspects of education and school life
- improving the delivery of information to disabled students and their families
It is a requirement that the school’s Accessibility Plan is resourced, implemented, reviewed and revised as necessary and reported on annually, showing how the school will address our identified priorities.
